A purpose-built waterfront precinct preparing for its debut
Australia’s Gold Coast is about to add a major new name to its maritime landscape. Mantaray Marina — a 67-berth development with 20 slips dedicated exclusively to superyachts — is entering its final construction phase, with opening slated for the next six months. Positioned on The Spit, the narrow peninsula framed by the Pacific Ocean on one side and the Gold Coast Broadwater on the other, the site has been drawing interest from owners, captains, and management teams long before the first mooring line is laid.
Designed as a complete marine and lifestyle precinct, Mantaray Marina blends large-format berthing with residential, leisure, and dining amenities. The centrepiece for visiting yachts will be the 1,100-square-metre floating lounge — a two-storey structure positioned at the marina entrance. The main deck is set to host a restaurant and bar, while the upper level will accommodate private functions and VIP events. A dedicated Captain’s Lounge, located shoreside, provides meeting rooms, workspace, and quiet areas away from the bustle of guest operations.
For yacht owners and their teams, the marina’s operational model leans heavily on service continuity. A dedicated concierge — with more than a decade in the superyacht sector — will manage everything from provisioning and itinerary planning to courtesy vehicles, guest transfers, and in-slip F&B. Shore power, security, Wi-Fi, and equipment storage are baked into the infrastructure, while both short-term and long-term berthing options will be available from opening day.
The wider development includes multiple restaurants, a public boardwalk linking the Ocean and Broadwater sides of The Spit, and 24 luxury residences — each with a private pool — positioned above the waterfront. A resort-style communal pool completes the residential offering.
Beyond the marina itself, the geographic advantages are clear. The Broadwater provides year-round protected cruising, while direct access to the Pacific allows straightforward routing north toward the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef. For yachts requiring technical work or scheduled service, the Coomera marine precinct — one of Australia’s primary refit and repair hubs — sits just upriver.
“Mantaray Marina answers a very real need,” notes marina operations manager Luke McCaul. “Berths are scarce, and owners are demanding higher standards of amenity, privacy, and security.” With the Gold Coast tightening its grip as a superyacht gateway for Australia and the South Pacific, the arrival of a purpose-built facility of this scale marks a significant step forward for the region.
