Patrick Knowles Designs (PKD) has been commissioned to helm an ambitious two‑phase refit of the 45.7‑metre Palmer Johnson motor yacht Norma Jean.
More than a distinguished vessel, Norma Jean carries a philanthropic legacy—supporting marine conservation, youth education, and wider community initiatives worldwide.
Originally launched in 2009, the yacht is now undergoing a transformation that honours her iconic “galactic” silhouette while introducing a fresh, coastal‑inspired aesthetic. Her exterior will feature a refined palette of crisp white and soft seafoam, accentuating fluid lines and creating an elevated sense of openness across social and relaxation spaces.
Inside, PKD will reinterpret maritime luxury through a contemporary lens, evoking the easy elegance of a beach house. Warm oak tones, layered textures, and soft creams define an interior conceived for comfort and understated sophistication. Modern amenities will be seamlessly integrated to preserve the tranquil atmosphere while enhancing onboard functionality.
Guided by decades of partnership between the yacht’s owner, Captain Richard McKee, and broker Michael Selter, the project embodies collaboration and trust built over 25 years at sea.

“Norma Jean represents more than a vessel,” says Patrick Knowles. “She reflects a lifestyle, a purpose, and a profound respect for the ocean—values central to the PKD philosophy.”
Phase One of Norma Jean’s refit is scheduled for completion in November 2025, marking the beginning of her renewed journey.
