A new superyacht concept designed to merge architectural fluidity and enduring performance
Dutch shipyard Feadship has unveiled its latest superyacht concept — the 75.5-metre Etherea — a ready-to-build vessel that redefines the relationship between residential comfort and high-performance cruising. The announcement, made in December 2025, introduces a concept that blends architectural poise with technical refinement, inspired by classical notions of elemental harmony and modern living at sea.
Etherea is the result of a collaboration between Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects / Studio De Voogt and Italian design studio FM Architettura, who have worked together on high-profile builds such as Somnium, Zen and Stella M. The concept draws on the four elements — earth, air, fire and water — with the addition of the “fifth element,” or ether, an elusive force that Feadship interprets as a guiding philosophy for spatial flow and environmental balance.

Constructed with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, Etherea showcases a low, timeless profile defined by taut lines, a plumb bow and extensive glazing. This foundational naval architecture allows for split-level decks that open up interior volume without sacrificing sleek form, enabling a full sundeck without a traditional bridge deck. The result is a yacht that reads as a cohesive whole — fluid, defined, and exceptionally purposeful in its geometry.

A prominent feature of Etherea’s design is the use of structural glass and skylights to invite natural light deep into the yacht’s interior volumes. This is particularly evident on the owner’s deck, where the bow lounge is visually connected to the skylight above the suite and the adjacent winter garden — conceived as a four-season retreat. The winter garden incorporates sliding windbreak panels, extending the versatility of indoor-outdoor living across climates.
Forward of the main internal spaces, the aft area centers on a glass-encased pool with glass sides and a glass bottom. This architectural centerpiece not only creates a visual core for the beach club, spa, lounge and bar spaces below but also underscores Feadship’s commitment to integrating technical innovation with experiential design.

FM Architettura’s interior concept channels natural hues and materials inspired by coastal landscapes. Neutral tones, powder blues, earthy greens and tactile surfaces ground the interiors in an atmosphere that feels simultaneously elegant and relaxed. The design intent aims to craft an environment that supports both lively social gatherings and quiet contemplation, making Etherea feel more like a residence on the water than a traditional yacht.
Etherea’s proposed propulsion system is based on twin Veth POD CR1250is units, projected to deliver a maximum speed of around 14.5 knots, a cruising speed near 12 knots and a range of approximately 4,500 nautical miles — figures that underscore Feadship’s engineering seriousness alongside its aesthetic ambition.

At its core, Etherea represents Feadship’s evolving philosophy of superyacht design: a craft that doesn’t merely accommodate luxury, but reimagines it as continuous, seamless living at sea. By merging transparent sight lines, elemental inspiration and spatial fluidity, Etherea stands as a concept that looks beyond seasonal cruising to the idea of a home without borders — an ethos as much about experience as engineering.
